Alpha One Trim Sender Hose leak

My alpha one trim sender hose started to leak at the connector where it goes into the gimbal housing just above the anode...

Noticed that the hose would wiggle loose compared to others and it lost all the oil overnight and the drive is completely down...

QUESTION:

1. it's easy enough to tighten it and refill the oil.. but should I be concerned of other things?

2. we were in the water when this may have happened so I'm not sure if water went in... or it may have been during the trailer ride home...

3. how do I refill the oil and bleed it... I know where the refill reservoir is but not sure about how to bleed the air out... (anybody with a better manual?)

thanks for any helps

It may have loosened up,....
You can try just tightening it up,+ see if it'll hold,....

If there Was any water,.. It probably drained with all the Oil......
Just fill the reservoir with ATF,+ Run it up & down several times,.... That'll take care of the Bleeding part.....

If it Holds,..... You're Good to Go.......
If Not,..... Change the Trim Hose,...... Hopefully the fittings will be in Good Shape,.....
I think those are 7/16" wrench, maybe 3/8",.... Get a Tubing Wrench for them,.. They tend to Round-Over when you use a regular open-ended wrench.......

I tried to tighten the trim hose connectors but the gimbal anode is in the way...

is there a way to tighten it without removing the anode?

if not is there anything I need to do when I put the anode back in place or it's routine...

sorry for the questions but I've never worked with hydraulics

Re: Alpha One Trim Sender Hose leak

Just Unbolt the Anode, Fix the trim line,+ reinstall......

Nothing Special,.... just be sure it's Clean under the anode.....

Here is something you may find handy. It's a link to a free online OEM service manual for your Alpha drive.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Servmanl/6/6covr3.pdf

Just click on the "Sterndrive Units" box to get to the index. Then click on the section you want to open.
