Alpha One Vent Screw. Cant break loose!

I'm having a heck of a time trying to remove the upper vent screw. I had a little elecrolysis issue last year and I guess it got to this screw. I've tried all the normal stuff. PB Blaster, Freeze Off, Bigger screw driver, Anything else I can try? I'm afraid to take a drill to it for fear of getting metal in the drive.
Any suggestions? Boat is still in driveway and slip is empty.

Impact screw driver is the only way to go.

That is a hammer-driven hand tool I believe. I inherited one like that once and left it somewhere helping a buddy. A nice tool to have if you work on neglected and abused stuff.

there is nothing like a little heat to loosen a nut/screw etc....

I had the same problem, I used an acetylne torch. I did not have luck with the impact driver, and I would have been afraid to use an air impact gun on it.

The other thing that helped, was I took the bit out of the Impact drive, and put it into a socket adaptor and used my socket driver, the bit fit the vent screw perfectly, and the socket driver gave me enough leverage to turn the bit.

PS make sure you have new plugs, now is a good time to replace both of them. You get rid of all of the corrosion that is on the plug, and any damage to the screw slot, goes away at the same time.

take your flat head or a small punch and hammer. place the screw diver or punch in the one end od the slot and top the screw ccw. i just got one off gfor a buddy that was totally stripped.

Ayuh,........

I've got a Couple of those,.... 3/8" drive,+ 1/2" drive.......
The 3/8" drive uses a BFH for power,......
The 1/2" uses a FBH for it's horsepower.............
