As I was replacing lower shift cable this saturday, I notice that my water intake hose has a bend in it. When the boat was in the water, it made me wonder why one engine was running about 30 degrees warmer then the other. Might have been not enough water was getting to it.

I got a new hose (what a pain in the neck it was to loosen those 2 clamps. That was half a problem... Putting a new hose in place was even harder. I could not tighten those clamps at all.
I took a chance and put her back in the water. The clamps are not tightened... I will constantly monitor water temp gauge as I will use the boat. Maybe even purchase temperature alarm that would beep as the temp comes close to 190 degrees.
It took me 1 hour to place the new hose back on. I took of both hinge pins and pulled the gimbel housing by maybe 5-6 inches. Both bellows (exhaust and gimbel were still attached.
What was I doing wrong?
Is it likely for that hose to come off if it is not tightened?
Please, advise. Thank you.
P.S. At least the shift cable change went fine.

Re: Alpha One water intake hose

I remove the nylon feed tube at the top of the transom assy (this goes through the through the transom assembly. Install the hose and clamp, feed it thru the transom assy, then fit the bell housing end.
