Ok I have confirmed my upper drive is a alpha. However I am not sure my lower is. Does a older pre alpha lower fit onto a alpha upper. My reason for this is my cavitation plate is definately rounded. Not squared. But on the shaft going to the prop it is definately stamped with a A. Amy ideas.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... From 'bout '73/ '74, on up, Yes, the MC-1 lowers, or uppers, will bolt too, 'n run just fine with the Alpha 1s, up to '91, when the Gen.IIs came out,....

Indicates an MC-1 lower.

Yes, the propshaft is the same from MC-1 right up to 1997 Alpha One Gen II. So quite feasible that the propshaft has been replaced sometime after 1985, probably from a wrecked Alpha One drive... That would explain the 'A' on your propshaft....

Chris.......
