Alpha zinc fin fell off

I dont know how but my zinc fin fell off and the bolt is gone from the hole too.I have to replace it while the boat is in the water.The big problem is that to do it right I have to split the drive to put a new bolt in to secure the zinc.Any ideas on how to attach without hauling it or splitting the drive.Help!!!!!! Charlie

Isn't there a hole above it with a plug in it? Mine had hole that an allen head bolt fit in.

The hole is there but the bolt head does not fit through it thats why the drive needs to be split to do it correctlyI am trying to do it incorrectly to make do until the end of the year

All you need the right size allen wrench long enough to reach the bolt in the hole, and I guess the right size bolt since yours is missing. You do not need to disassemble the drive to change the trim tab zinc.

I have the allen wrench and the new bolt but it does not fit through the hole to drop it in place.I am about to start grinding the head of the bolt until it fits through the top hole,I hope it does not fall through the bottom hole

Just get an Allen socket head cap screw long enough to go through the hole and into the zinc fin. You don't need it to be a captive bolt.

Thats what I was thinking,I doubt I will be able to get a stainless bolt but for a temp It will have to do. Charlie
