Any info much appreciated!

like the round hole above the bearing it is another vent, lets you see water entering the boat from the bellow

Why would we want to see water entering the boat? Isn’t the bellows supposed to prevent that? Sorry, I’m not the most mechanical. Husband is doing the work. He’s a millwright, but I’m better at finding information in line. Thank you!

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... You don't wanta see water comin' in,....
But if the bellows is holed, it will come in, tellin' ya to fix yer boat,....

Gotta admit I'm lost on this one. Do you mean the hole (at least the bottom one) lets water escape if the bellows is leaking? So if water is allowed to escape via this hole it would be viewable from inside the boat? Am I on the right track? The round hole above is only to vent?
