Ohms Law;
R = E^2 / P, Assuming E = 12 volts, E^2 = 144.
Example: P = 50 Watt lamp.
R = 144 / 50 = ~3 Ohms,
and at least 100 watt. (BIG Resistor! HOT!!!)
Otherwise, a lot more details will be needed.

Replacing a Lamp with an Exciter Resister for an Alternator!!!
