Wondering if there is an alternative to V/P ignition cable kit 3857169 (my engine is a 7.4l GIPEFS - it looks like the main issue is the straight boot on the actual spark plug so it doesn't conflict with the manifold. Thanks - [h=1][/h]

IMO would suggest any wire set that will fit and is of good quality. quality is a vague term, but no cheap, use silicone large diameter, and resistance wire set. The wire sets of the you make them to fit is a good option.

The 8.1 wires are thru the roof expensive and for the main reason is because there are not very many of them. There is a guy on OSO (BUP) that sells sets for a better price, but how good don't know

Thank you Gentlemen - OEM it is I guess. The challange is finding them/getting them. Sierra doesn't carry a set that would work. Just was wondering if I might be missing something obvious in my search.

I just replaced wires on my 4.3 and they are routed round the back of the block and under the risers, a pretty short route to the plugs from the cap, in fact I don't know a shorter route. If an automotive set is much shorter I don't see how they could work with the basic engine architecture. And I would guess an automotive set for the same engine would route over the valve covers and around the exhaust manifolds and perhaps need to be longer. Maybe I am missing something.

A cut to fit plug wire set would be safe. Or perhaps find a manufacturer that lists wire lengths for their automotive sets and compare to your OE set.
