I have a 1993 5.0 litre omc. The trouble I am having is the engine keeps snapping the alternator belt. I've been told if they are not lined up exactly in line that this is what will cause the problem. My question is, how do you line up the alt. with the engine pulley or wheel? If anyone knows this engine, the alt. fits into a bracket on the engine, there is no way to move it forward in boat to align them. Is there a spacer on the alternator it self to adjust? please help, $14.00 every trip out for a belt is getting expensive.

Re: Alternator alignment

If you have room to get a frameing square on the pulleys you can see if its lined up and go from there

If someone put the worng one on in the past that would be one cause for bad alliment

Rutsy pulleys kills most belts or something else could have a bad bearing causeing to much load on the belt
