Hey guys me again. My alt bracket seems to be a little short. I have a new exhaust manifold that changed the bolt location of one side of the bracket im maxed out and need like another inch or so. what are the usual steps to rectify. Do they make longer brackets?

DonS do i need to support the engine when taking off the engine mount bracket on the 3.0? I saw an earlier post of yours that looked as though it was unneccesay to support the engine while doing this. Is this fair to say?

As long as you don't loosen the other bolts, you should be ok, I've never had one slip, but I'm sure it's possible. If you feel uncomfortable with that method, support the engine.

Re: Alternator bracket too short

Ok im gonna change this belt -I neeed to order a shorter belt because Im fully stretched on the alt bracket what size should i be looking for? i think the oem is 40 or 41 inches i guess i should be looking for a 38 ? can anyone verify.

if your reading this and wondering why i cant go stock its because the new exhaust manifold that was updated changed the dimensions of the fit for the belt ..right now it works but it needs a better fit.
thanks for any help...I just really dont have any knowledge on belt sizes so please feel free to educate me. Thanks

Any auto parts store should be able to match up the belt width and give you one a little shorter.
If it works now but is just a little too long to get it tight then you only need a belt an inch or two shorter.

Bondo's one finger typing beat me to it...;)

For all those that attempt this you NEED to support the engine mine engine dropped a 1/4" and you might have to pull off the water pump pulley if your front motor mount is really close to it otherwise you wont get that belt in.
