Alternator help 88 5.0 mercruiser

Is this alternator compatible with my original? I'm not sure if I was sent the wrong one on accident.

Yes- I bought a new alt. 2 years ago and got the same thing, just make sure the wires with the plugs are hooked up right.

Well that is good news . I hope to have it running on muffs this weekend. The wires with the plugs are color coded?

I honestly dont remember if they were color coded or not, but it was easy to figure out otherwise id remember?? those wires are probably marked "stator" and "field" if thats stamped anywhere on the housings.
