I have a 1973 135HP Rude Model:135383M and was wondering if that model would recharge my battery during the course of the day. I wouldn't know where to look on the engine if it has one. Thanks.

Re: Alternator or No Alternator??

Your charging circuit consists of 2 parts. A stator under the flywheel and a rectifier bolted to the side somewhere. Its probably a 6 amp circuit. To see if it is working, check the voltage at the battery with the motor not running. Then check it again with it running. You should see an increase in voltage if its working. You won't see much of an increase until around 2K RPM.
