Hi there.
I'm working on a project, but before I can start it, I'd like to know what would be the average power output of the alternator in the engine? is it around 12V or is it 20-30V, AC or DC? I'd love to know soon, because I have a circuit board which needs power, and I have no engine to tinker with and test for the moment.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, this project is aimed at a 50hp Tohatsu engine, because my boat which I'm due to get (a Zapcat, Gemini Zapcat G8!!) will have that type engine. I know nothing about boat engines, so please help me out. Thank you very much.

There are no details regarding power generation voltage output or current output in the PDF manuals.

All the best,

Peter

Re: Alternator power output

According to the Tohatsu website, USA specs, for a 50hp TLDI:
THe charging system is
12 Volt, actual output should be 12.6-15 volt, depending on regulator.
280 Watt
23Amp maximum output

Note, European or other area specs may be different.
