I have 2 different Marine alternators from 2 totally different people. One is a Motorola model 1Y5N3S. The other looks like a Delco but am unsure- it does have a sticker that says it meets marine requirements. The question that I have is this. Is there suppossed to be mesh screens on the the front and backs to prevent sparks? Neither of these alternators have screens of any kind. I find it hard to believe that 2 totally different alts have had the screens removed. If they have been removed then to what purpose?
