Who sells alternator parts? I am going to rebuild the Mando alternator from the 4.3 mercruiser.

Not trying to sound like a ***** here, but if you have to ask where to buy parts, you shouldn't be re-building electrical components that are used in a closed gasoline engine compartment.

No doubt you can re-build an alternator, but can you re-build so that it is still ignition protected?

In my opinion Mando's are junk. You can get a rebuilt alternator for cheap, $65 or less, Craigslist.
You may be better off giving it to a shop to rebuild and save yourself the aggravation.

I took the alternator apart and cleaned all the terminals with sandpaper. Put it back in the boat and it works again.
