Re: Alternator?

I guess the text was errased/omitted. I was wondering if my 1986 150hp Mariner motor had an alternator, but have since been told it has a stator that recharges the battery. I was having dead battery issues with a new battery. I was also wondering how much impact would be made if the gasket around the gas tank/fuel gauge recceptor didn't make a seal? Would it impact the motor performance. I had replaced it with a new one and it seems to leak a little with a full tank.

Yes you have a stator which in turn feeds a rectifier. You may or may not have a regulator. You need to test them according to your manual. The most common cause is a bad rectifier. Your gas leak will not affect the motor's performance. However, the fumes from the leak could ruin your day. You need to fix that.
