hey fellow boaters,
does any one own an aluma craft boat?
i bought the 04 alumacraft navigator 175 cs last april and love it. i looked at many types of fishing boats and settled on this aluminum boat. after the maiden voyage i was really impressed with the splash rails that run along both sides. the water goes down and away from the boat and us. i had a 16 ft fiberglass and we were constantly getting bathed when we came across any sizeable wakes or waves.
i have since looked at other aluminum boat manufacturers and noticed the lack of these large splash rails. i'm gald i bought the alumacraft :) :)

I have a 2004 Navigator 165 CS. Nice workmanship, its roomy, and as you have discovered, its a dry riding, nice handling boat. Nice, comfortable seats.

Nothing wrong at all with an Alumacraft. Great quality. If you are looking into a riveted aluminum boat, Lund, Alumacraft, Lowe, Smokercraft are all decent. The best splash rails seem to be on the Alumacraft, Lund, and Smokercraft. All pretty dry riding boats...

Good Boat!

In upstate NY, you're OK.

In Minnesota/Wisconsin, the "Lund snobs" won't talk to you.

But, I outfished every "Lund snob", I ever met, in my Lowe. :D

Good choice.

DJ, snobs? Must be a mn thing. :)

I figured they weren't talking to me because I was a scary looking dude and was totally abusing my 1960 Alumacraft.
I had no idea it was the make of the boat. That ugly old boat has been thru hill a couple times, but won't stop.

lol.. 'Lund snobs' eh, DJ? ... yea, I guess some guys get their tightie-whities in a bunch.

Alumacrafts are nice boats.. I'd be hard pressed to say I'd buy one since I own a Lund pro-V (never needs any work ;) ), Sylvan RDS and a Lowe MV.

I'm just plain nuts, I guess.

nice boat and glad you feel confident in your purchase, teamstromer. Makes a person feel good if they are confident in what they've bought.

My fishing buddy has a Lund and is hardly a "Lund Snob". I fix his boat frequently.

"Lund Snobs" humm, we have a fair amount of Lunds on the lower Niagara River and the mouth of Lake Ontario but they talk to us guys with the "cheap rigs" like my old Spectrum.

I think it is a Minnesota thing. Lund and Alumacraft started in Minnesota, and there has been strong brand loyalty between the 2 brands for generations. Of course we could muddy the waters further by throwing Crestliner into the mix..

Z-Man, do you boat on "Gates of the Mountains" I think it's called? We used to see Mountain Goats right down by the water. Nice camp ground with water access only.

RottenRay-

I boat the Gates of the Mountains on a regular basis. My luck there for Walleye is limited- I do seem to catch Rainbows there when fishing for walleye.

There are several camp sites that are water accessable only. I have seen goats there only once- right at the opening on the cliffs. Usually, I see Big Horn Sheep close to the water- herds of 20+ are common there to the north of the Gates area. The sheep will sit close to the water oblivious to the boats running by. If I have visitors, I always take them there. It is an extraordinary place. Fishing is usualy good- and just the sight seeing along makes it worth it. I see three of us from the Helena area that troll these boards.
