Had this 96' alumacraft for a couple years now and just love the hull and 40hp tiller. Really gotten lots of use over the past couple years and want to bring her back to life .

Pictures are up. Already ripped out lots of decking. Ive viewed many posts of guys using the nautolex flooring and very satisfied with their finished results. So hopefully I will have similar success.

INTERESTED in any posts of people using alternate material for deck flooring besides wood. I would like to lighten the load of the boat by using something besides wood. Maybe a composite, or even aluminum sheet metal.

Also If i go with wood what is the purpose of sealing the ply with fiberglass resin as Ive seen in many posts? ( member with best looking decks were done this way.)

All finished with this rebuild for those of you that followed
18ft aluminum, foam, drainage, deck, paint. Rebuild

Hey Cap, nice looking tin you got there! :thumb:

On the decking, aluminum sheets are expensive and weak which means you have to put in a bunch of floor supports. Then you have to cover it, slippery when wet and hot like a skillet. I reccomend using 1/2" marine ply that has 5 layers and is really strong but it does flex some when walked on.

I use spar to seal my ply rather than resin and once covered I'm not sure how good looking wood will matter. Nautolex is really good flooring and pretty easy to work with unless your trying to wrap corners with it, then it's not so much fun.

This is my 94 evinrude 40hp tiller.
Runs awesome. Starts right up and never stops.
I did a full motor tune and paint when i first got it, so no work needed here.

What would a jackplate do to the performance of this boat? Im adding a new minkotta riptide 55 and considering an atlas micro jacker. Friend from gander is going to get me 20% off so I was considering the purchase.

Got the stereo installed and finished all the deck framing. Should have every thing together tonight and maybe mount the motor. Hoorah!

Jack plate would be an interesting addition, though I've never seen one on a tiller before. What are you trying to accomplish?

Took one test run on the lake Sun. Then took Mon. off work and went 30miles on Indian river. What a nice day.

Heres the before and after the main work. Still going to add some things. decals,LED lighting, and add aluminum trim in some areas...
