Alumacraft made fiberglass boats?

I'll be up front and apologize for not having pics. I have to take my camera with on Thursday when we run it on muffs.

I am looking at buying a 1959 Alumacraft Jamaica 15' (14'10" IIRC) with a 1970 Merc 500. it has the original full top including side curtains and after a thorough 90 minute inspection looks to be in excellent shape.

I never knew they made fiberglass boats.

BTW, the seller is the second owner. his father in law was the first.

Yes they did. You'd think they would have come up with another brand name for that venture though wouldn't ya? :D

I have just a fragment of info. I was tracking down Alumacraft sailboats (they made a couple of those too) and in my search learned they built with fiberglass from around 1960 to 1975. At that time the company changed hands and the fiberglass line was dropped.

Sorry, I don't recall where I found this tidbit - maybe Fiberglassics or the Alumacraft historical webpage. Wherever it was it came up in a Google search.
