Hello everyone. Can anyone give me some more info on Alumaweld boats? Is their 18' Talon boat suited for ocean use? Is there any wood used in the construction of their boats (transom, stringers etc.)? Where are they made? Just want to find out more info on these boats, thank you.

They are made in Oregon, aluminum stringers and some wood encased in the transom AND lifetime warranty on the hull. Have you read their website?

ANY boat can be used in the ocean however there are many factors. Your skill level and how far into the ocean you are going. The ocean combined with weather can turn on you FAST.

I have to agree with Bob_VT that any boat can be used in the ocean. However, I personally would like to use a boat that is bigger then the fish in that ocean...at least most of them!

I own a 2010 Blackhawk (offshore bracket) and there is NO wood in that boat. It's very well built and handles reasonable chop with no problems. GREAT fishing/crabbing platform. I've had my boat out in the ocean several times but with an eye on the weather the whole time. This is not a boat you want to own if fishing the ocean is your main focus.
