Hey guys, in addition to my real boat, I also have an old Grumman aluminum canoe. I've been wanting to paint the canoe, but I'm not sure what kind of paint to use. I'm not looking for anything special, as I said it's a beat up old canoe, it wouldn't even have to be boat paint necessarily. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Aluminum Boat Paint

A good primer is more important than the paint I think.
Epoxy sticks well and is tough.
I always wanted to power-coat an aluminum boat.

Wash and scrub it with TSP. Dry then Wash with 50/50 mix of Vinegar and Water. Light coat of Self Etching Primer then I would Paint it with Good Old Rustoleum Professional Industrial Oil Based Paint. Thinned 10 % with Acetone and it will Look like a Million Bucks Pretty durable and EASY as heck to touch up if and when needed. Lot's of guys on here use it on their aluminum boats with Great Results.
