I just bought a 1988 Springbok 18' aluminum boat. It's my first boat and I was really excited about it until we got it back from the water. My driveway slopes down and there's water dripping out from one (maybe more) rivets. There one drip about every 7-10 seconds.

I have done a search and have read about a numnber of ways to fix it. I was thinking 3M 5200, but the rivet is right where first contact would be if the boat is pulled to shore - do I have to worry about that?

Also, I cannot get at the inside of the boat. The repair would have to be done from the outside. Is there another way? What about welding? Just don't want to melt a hole in the boat.

Somebody please tell me this is common and it's easy to fix as I am really discouraged as this is my first ever boat.
