I just purchase a 2003 Triumph 21 Center Console that came with an Aluminum T-Top, it's starting to pit and I've tried some aluminum polish to see if I could remove the pitting. It seems to clean well and is smooth to the touch but the pitting look is still there.

Any good recommendation on cleaning this up?

Used in Salt Water for the last 9 years..

Thanks for any advice you may have.

Re: Aluminum T-Top Starting to Pit

111,
Here are a couple of possibilities. To really stop the pitting, the aluminum needs to totally sealed from the air and salt water. That can be done at least two ways, both of which are probably not cheap! First remove the T-top, and everything attached to it. Then either have it hard anodized or powder coated. A third possibility is have an epoxy paint applied to it that is intended for marine use on aluminum. Hope this helps, its more permanent than constantly cleaning and polishing.
