Looking to buy a stainless prop the current prop is a 13 3/4 x 15 aluminumon a 70 hp 1999 evinrude 2 stroke on a 17 foot crest liner super hawk. The current prop runs 31 mph at 5100 rpms full throttle planed. Seems to do ok just dinged it up bad though lots of driftwood in the lake we fish. Thanks in advance!

Personaly, I would stay with the Alum prop, if theres alot of driftwood to hit. The SS prop will be stronger, and may do damage to the lower unit if you hit something again.

As far as SS pitch, I would try a 13, and see if your rpms go up to 5500, if they go higher, then I would go 15. I went from a 19 Alum to a 17 SS and picked up 2 MPH and 200 RPM, and a 2 second hole shot on plane. Not all boats react the same.

Not to worried about the drift wood but just wanted to get a good performing SS for this boat.

i would get a 13 pitch prop..should get you to around 5500 RPM and a better hole shot and all around performance..you may lose 1 or 2 MPH though. 5100 rpm is on the low side

Go with the stainless. I used to go through an aluminum prop per year. After I changed over to a stainless, it's gone 12 years without incident.

The stainless is really an investment--and one that pays off in the long run.
