Decided too flood the boat and check for leaks. Fond 5 pin hole leaks, see pics.
They look like they are from the inside out.
Do alumminum boats rot from the inside out.
Its a 97 superfisherman, otherwise in mint shape. I was very surprised.
The pin holes are along the bottom leading edges. One pic shows the edge i am talking about.
The second pic shows one of the pin holes, they run for about six feet. There are 5 pin holes.
Was going too put a new motor on the boat this fall, but not sure now. Might be trading the whole boat now. Depending on what I find out.
Should add, a couple of the holes drippped alot of water , the others were very slight.

thanks for any help in advance

Harley,
You can seal that right up from the inside with Gluv-it.
Us tin can guys brush it on leaky rivets and it seals them right up!
iboats sells it, or use your google-fu skills.

Re: alumminum hulll pin holes

After further investigation, there is only two small pin holes.( not much bigger than a large needle.)
Every other part of the hull, that i can see from the inside, is absolutely mint.
But I cannot get too these two holes from the inside of the boat.
So i'm thiking its a puncture hole, there is some small scraps ther also.
I drilled through the pin holes and cleaned them out. The metal is absolutely solid around the two pin holes.
I can use a syringe and needle too squeeze somethin into them. Any suggestions on what too use, to seal them up.
It still seems odd, these two pin holes, maybe it could be an imperfection in the metal. It is right at the bend of the alumminum. Maybe a thin spot in the material.
Any suggestions apprecaited.

I don;t know much about aluminum boats, but I used JB weld on a bunch of pinholes in my aluminum tank and it's holding up well...
