hi everyone, i instaled a stereo in my boat. i put a protective cover on it. it was workin fine. yesterday my boy and i went to the lake here. the cd player was on, when the stereo made a noise and stoped working i think it may have gotten some water on it im not sure, i did not see any. my boy was cleaning a small mess he made with some water. i have checked the wiring. the speakers were crackling a bit then nothing. i did get the cd out, but the stereo will not work. what should i look for? this is a jvc stereo, and not a marine type.

If it is brand new, bring it back and tell them it was DOA.

If it is used, place it in the circular file and start over. Water ruins radios once exposed. Good luck.

take a hair drier to it & sea if that works.
if not take it back, tell them it doest work.
those covers arent that great. you really need to put it a water proof box that has a cover. they are about $60 from west marine , overtons or caebelas.
this site mite even offer them.
-
they do make serveral water proof units at $300 to $400.
but im with you on that car unit, it just needs to be protected.
i put mine in the cuddy, my remote is voice command- ( the passenger )
