Howdy guys, So my motor wasn't running right and I brought it to a guy I know that has fixed my outboards before. (I don't know much about them) He told me the motor needs a fuel pump rebuild kit and that with parts and labor I'm looking at $115. I searched a little online and most of the kits seem to be a lot cheaper. Am I getting ripped off? or does that seems fair?

I believe its a 1980 25hp tiller model. I wish I had the serial number but I don't sorry.

Keep in mind I'm a broke college student, and the prop is busted too. I'm trying to save any money I can.

Thanks!!

"Most of the kits seem to be a lot cheaper" Well I guess his time might be worth something. You say you are in collage. Once you graduate you are going to expect to be paid for work you do.
You are learning that BOAT, means Break Out Another Thousand, and a Boat is a Hole in the water you pour money into.

WELL the kit is 20 bucks, maybe. @ 80 bucks an hour labor. got to add diagnostics to figure the problem. quite fair.
broke or not, it is fair.
And if you trusted him before and got good results, OK in my book.
Just get GOOD GRADES. that way you never have to turn a wrench unless you want to.
GET GOOD GRADES.
