on january 6th, 2004, i purchased a used but "tested" 1980 50hp evinrude outboard with a 30 day warranty for 950 dollars.when i arrived at his shop to pick up motor, he said the starter wasnt working and he would UPS me one asap, should be within the week. sounded fair. starter never came. 2 weeks later he sent me a check for 130 dollars so i could get my own starter myself, wich i did.

motor wouldnt start. spent a couple days on phone with him trouble shooting. thought it was a power pack. he mailed me a power pack. wasnt the pack. so i brought my boat (17 foot center console) back to his shop(86 miles each way)to have him fix it.new stator was installed and i picked up boat 2 days later.

get home and am having trouble starting motor. call back for more tech support...
it starts but only ocasionaly. took boat out at local boat ramp and #1 cylnder throughs a connecting rod through the block while idleing in no wake zone . i call back saying what it did, he says bring it back so he can look at it.

he calls one week later with synopsis saying that number 1 ran lean and that it was not covered by warranty. i could pay 500 to rebuild it or he would be willing to swap a nother 50hp powerhead he has for free.he stated he was "willing to work with me on a satisfactory close"

he has had motor since this point wich was late january. i had motor 2 weeks. 12 days of wich it didnt work.

he has my money and motor. simply says he will call when its done.

how long should this take?

been 5 1/2 months

please see their site at www.vikingmarine.com and read the warranty info......please

m ikey
