Am I really Limited?

I have a 1890 Pro V Gary Roach with a 85 Evinrude. It is rated top at 90HP. I have already been told by lund that this is the same hull with the side console and they are rated for 225's. Other then insurance reasons am I limited, will the boat handle a 115 tiller with the hydro sterring assists that are out there now? Or am I talking crazy?

You can put any HP engine on any boat that will hold it --- but you answered your own question. It's called INSURANCE. Your insurance carrier will drop you like a hot potato, and someone else will own all your stuff if you are ever involved in a personal injury accident. It is also illegal in most states to power a boat with an engine rated higher than the maximum HP rating tag on the boat. Do people do it?? Certainly! Is it wise? No!
