Hello everyone!

I recently purchased a boat and am working on getting it on the water. It has a marine VHF radio that powers up and hopefully works. It needs a new antenna cable, no sense risking the finals in the radio just to see if it works. The boat also has a CB radio that does not power up, and will find its way into the recycle bin!

I would like to put a 2 meter radio on the boat for the fun of it. I am not having much luck finding equipment online. Does anyone have suggestions for a 2 meter antenna that will match my fiberglass marine antenna ( 8 foot Shakespeare)? And does anyone have a suggestion for a 2 meter mobile radio that will tolerate the harsh environment on the boat better than average?

Thank in advance!
Edward

I would start wth just taking an HT out first.
You may find the activity on 2M on the water to be minimal.

A search for 2M Fiberglass Antenna found a few hits.
If you don't like the color; a piece of White heat shrink tubing could correct that!

Scratch that, it was a diamond x30, and x50 I was thinking of.
