amazing barn find longshaft 8 hp

even tho im a omc guy, i just scored this amazing motor. i think its a 1986 buy the serial numbers.
motor doesnt look like it was ever installed or run. the filter housing is like new, the prop had no oil or gas on it and the carb still has its new look.

That's in amazing shape. It would be worth raising up a transom to accommodate that shaft.

Check the wires and hoses for being brittle and just for the hell of it.....I would do the impeller as a $20 insurance policy

ok, but why do they smoke so much? i notice the black ones seem to smoke more than those little white or blue ones

the wires, hoses, all are like new condition. very soft and pliable. i bought a new impeller but think that old rubber is way better than today's cheapo pos. cover seal is like new too. guess i need to update my signature

Lack of load, combustion temp rises with load, burning more of the oil and reduces smoking. Once in the water you may notice smoke 'bubbles' rising while at idle but in gear and loaded most of that oil will be burnt away.

black one trading a long shaft johnson 15 hp, four stroke for a 2010 merc 8 hp short electric start. hmmm i am starting to see a pattern
