I just installed a hydrofoil in my Starcraft 170LE with a 75 HP 4-stroke Mercury and took it out for a test run. <br /><br />What an amazing difference! The boat gets up on a plane much quicker and stays on a plane at much lower speeds (just below 10 MPH and still planing). Also, the nasty pounding is gone. It used to be that if I didn't have some a couple of friends up front the boat would pound horribly. No more! <br /><br />Didn't get a chance to check the top end, but I was cruising easily at 35 MPH. The hardware was an SE 300 that I got from West Marine with a coupon - total came to about $40 with an installation time of about 20 minutes.
