Can you think of a greater contrast than that between the responses of an Old Order Amish Bishop and a Moslem Cleric on a minor slight such as a Danish cartoonist publishing his work?

How would that same Moslem cleric respond to an horrific event such as happened at Nickel Mines, PA?

I have gained great respect for the Amish approach to adversity. Too bad Washington, DC is so close geographically yet so far rationally from Nickel Mines.

I propose we do not mention the Amish and the extremist moslems on the same page.Out of respect for the Amish.

A- Moselm isn't the correct word, it's Muslim. Been that way since the 80's..................

B- You can't group all Muslims into one large group. They differenciations and distinctions are very large between the different groups. It would be more appropriate to say "radical Muslims", but then if you said that it really wouldnt meant the same thing huh.......

I agree Rolmpops.......
Though some would ridicule the Amish for there way of life, they have shown the world what they are truly made of.......
I must admit that I have a profound respect for they way that they have handled this tragedy as a community.......JK

Muslims are either extremists or enablers.
Neither are good for any just form of rationale.

Not a reasonable assumption?
Read a bit of the Quoran.
There is a passage stating that true believers (Muslims) should seek out and destroy non-believers (non-Muslims) by any form of ambush.
Also about actively campaigning to convert and kill those that will not.

I lived in the Middle-East for a number of years and know a bit of what I speak.

Fact:
If one does not act against an undesirable element of their community, they are enablers.

In my mind, there is no arguing with the ignorant.

Just because it is in a book doesn't mean that you have to act on it.....
The bible says thou shall not kill, commit adultery & such.....
Plenty of people breaking those rules.....
Ever been recruited by some rabid Jehovah's witnessess?

Fact:
If one does not act against an undesirable element of their community, they are enablers.

The Middle East has only been a part of our community since we invited ourselves in....
So what is the solution? Outlaw Islam? Good Luck!
FTR, I think all religion should be outlawed....
It served its purpose in the past, but has outlived its usefulness in the present, IMHO.......JK

Haut,
You are exactly correct.
However, they read it in a book and are taught it is the only way to live. Consequently, so it is written, so shall it be.

As far as religion outliving its usefullness, so has immigration. We needed it at one time; we don't anymore.

Of course we can't outlaw Islam. But why not. The Indians did with the sect worshipping Kali.
