I have a minn kota fortrex 80# us2 52" shaft i am still hooking it up to my pontoon boat my question is i can't find how many amps this thing draws ,i havent bought the batteries yet it is 24 volt i just trying to figure out which batteries to get with the best amp hours with out braking the bank them thing are expensive. Thanks

Well being as its 24 volt you will need 2 battery's and depending on how much you plan on using it that sort of dictates what group rating. Their 3 a 24,27 and 31. think of it as light, medium and heavy duty.

Walmart has a 29 deep cycle on sale for $82 it s a no brainer!!! Bigger is better.

180 to 200 is the lowest i would go, if you series 2 12V batteries, you will double the amp hours ............

mine is a 185 amp hours rating so it would become 370............ remember you need to either use a 24V charger, with sleep mode, or 2 12 volt battery chargers, but isolate each battery when charging ...............

looking at the Minn Kota site, they recommended a 3 bank, 45 amp battery, not cheap...........OUCH!!!

Thanks for knowledge ,Walmart has 29hm 115 ah ,but i was also looking at sams too they have some DC batteries ,oh and i do have a noco 3 bank 30 amp charger from what i have gathard so far is that the 30amp charger will work for overnite .
