I just recieved my amtico teak and white flooring which I am installing in my cabin. Does anyone have any pointers? The instructions are vague. I spoke with one instaler and he recomended dry fiting first and using masking tape to create sections. The adhesive only has a 1 hour pot life. This does not allow much time for fitting. I am interested in any advice from someone who has used this product. Thanks

Re: amtico floor installation

While I have never installed amtico .. I have installed Flexiteek .. ( same product basically .. but Flexi sent us a Pattern for the boat I Installed ).

I think your looking at "stripes" ..that you have to make into a pattern..right ?

Yes your installer is correct if you have to make patterns via Strips of amtico .. Dry fit the pattern/section as he suggested. You can use 40 grit to sand/round edges if its like Flexi..You can also not worry about glue gettin on the amtico ( worry about glue on the finished gelcoat more than the product ).

Dry fit everything..mask/tape off your pattern for glue .. get a "D" roller and a "J" roller ( in the Carpet section of the Box stores ).

Good luck :) .. Oh..and a few rolls of paper towels and a cardboard box handy for dumping said towels in ( that crap can go everywhere ).

YD.
