Ok,
Now that I am back on-line for a bit, I can tell you about my SHT and almost SHT.

I took a rental boat out right before we left to come to CA. Took the whole family up to do some King Salmon fishing. The river was completely BLOWN OUT!! Fishing was dead. So, I decided since I had never run upriver before and the river was very high I should be able to do it without problems. (Usually has several verrrrrry shallow spots) We ran a couple of miles up no problems. We came up on the first shallow spot. I came off step and was slowly approaching it to scout it out and look for the deep channel ( more than 6 inches deep). Bad Decision #1. Next thing I hear is the sound of rocks getting sucked into the impeller (jet drive). I quickly shut down and drifted back downstream. Talked to a fella fishing just downstream and learned how to cross that one.
We went another mile or so, came upon another shallow spot. Decided to use the lesson from earlier. Bad decision #2. While crossing this spot at full throttle on step, I was watching out at the river bottom. I started to see rocks, okay I expected that. I started to be able to count the rocks, UH OH!! Boom, I then hit the big rock and bounce the boat 2 feet to the right. We went up a bit further, making sure we weren't taking on water and beached the boat. (Had to let my heart slow down).
Came back down and humbled myself and asked how to cross without hitting the big rock again. We went back downstream and I let the wife drive while I trolled. It was her first time ever driving a boat. (flatbottom boat with a jet drive) She did good, ran us into the bank a couple of times, but after a couple of miles she was doing great (Good Decision #1).

Ok, got back to the ramp. All I caught was a clam. And yes I have pictures!!

We get back and I go to gas up. I swipe the card, select the grade, grab the nozzle, climb up into the boat and start to insert nozzle.
Hmmm, something don't look right. Why is the nozzle green? I glance back at the pump and I had pulled the Diesel nozzle!!!
Luckily, I hadn't squeezed it yet. Not a good or bad decision, just a good catch.

Ok,
Now, the next one, driving across Canada. One of the many times stopping for gas. I go in to pay and tell him pump 7and the amount. He asks, "Are you sure it's not pump 6? And, is your truck gas or diesel?" I got this "Oh $%#%" look on my face and answered gas. He said, that's good because pump 7 is diesel. I was so tired from driving, it didn't even register that I almost did it again. Thank goodness for blind luck. :)

AK Chappy

Wow Chappy, just about did it twice. That could have cost you a bundle.
Good thing you caught it before it turned bad.
