I have a 16' Lund fishing boat that I want to use (and have used) to pull the kids on a tube. I have been attaching the tow rope to the two handles in the back of the boat, but as the kids get bigger, I'm worried about the handles holding as they're attached with some small screws through the transom.

What's the best manner of installing two anchors on the back of my boat to attach a tow line to? Pictures would really be helpfull! I want to make sure I don't pull the back of my boat off. I have a 40 horse Mariner on it and it has enough power to pull the kids one at a time.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like fun. Without photos of your transom it is a bit difficult to give specifics. If your boat does not have transom eyes, I'd install some. I'm guessing you have a 20" deep transom. Measure how thick the transom is (length of bolt needed), then source a couple of eye bolts. I'd suggest about 5-6" from top of transom and 24" apart (each 12" from centerline of boat).

Something like this hardware would be great. Forged may be stronger than necessary but they would look nice. Some large outside diameter washers on each side will help spread the load.

Some might say you need a tow pylon, to keep rope out of water but I think that will give you handling problems so using a tow bridal off of transom eyes is best on a smaller boat.
