Anchor Roller Advise

I have a 21' Proline. More then enough room for a roller. I currently have a fluke type anchor (8-9lbs) and 20" long total.

My issue is this, how does the anchor of this type fit into the roller? If the mount is too short, the flukes will hit the hull when mounted. If its too long I fear the added leaverage could cause damage. Flukes go up or down? All the roller manufacturer web sites give specs but nothing with an anchor in the roller.

Im looking for any pics of this set up on your boat. I dont have any type of pullpit on the boat. Just a standard round nose.

I dont want to buy this and then find out its too short.

I was looking at this.

Thoughts? Pics?
Thanks

]I have a 1987 21' cc. It had a anchor roller, but I removed it as I really didn't need it here in the shallow lakes of TN... I don't remember the anchor ever hitting the bow.P5090043.jpgView attachment 91758

This probably won't help a great deal, but here is photo from the roller on my Chaparral 280 SSi and shows the anchor relative to the bow. The boat has a molded groove in the deck for the roller bracket.

Re: Anchor Roller Advise

The pic does give me an idea of the plow anchor. It looks like a plow of fluke anchor would fit in the same bracket?

I guess I ll have to do some measuring with the anchor in the bracket before I bolt it down.

Since no 2 anchors or boats are the same Im sure the bracket manufacturer doesnt provide a measurement for how far away from the edge a mount should go to avoid a fluke hitting the hull. Trial and error I guess?

More pics would be great from any other forum members.
Thanks

What is not real obvious in this photo is the "scuff shield" just below the rub rail. You can see where the blue gel coat "stops" just before the bow under the rub rail. This is a nice thermoplastic shield. Might want to reconsider the fluke, it would seriously bang around when cruising.

Fluke anchors do not bang around at all when under way. They are pulled in tight to keep the fluke from doing so. Depending on where he boats he may need a fluke anchor.

That's good to know. My plow bangs around a little (can't pull it completely tight into the roller), I just assumed a fluke would be a little worse.
