My arm is too short! I have a 1999 22ft Century WA with a pulpit mounted anchor roller. Apparently the prior owner docked by touch instead of site, because the roller has come loose from the pulpit. I figure no problem, I'll just tighten that bad boy up...right? Not happening! The bolts are through hull and the nuts are "in theory" reachable from the anchor locker....Here's the rub. There is no way that I can reach the nuts, they are about six inches past my arms reach and cannot be seen because the opening for the anchor locker is too small. My question is, was this put on in the factory or is it aftermarket...and if so has anyone been down this road before?

Re: Anchor roller

Can you see the nuts if you use an extendible mirror? If you can, then you can use a long-handled ratchet or long extension to reach them.

Sounds like these were factory installed. Only factories install non-serviceable components. You should see what I have to do to replace one of the rear spark plugs in my Jimmy. Feh!

Re: Anchor roller

Maybe you can reach in there with your auto-flash digital camera and take a few pictures. Then zoom in to better see what you are dealing with. ???

If it just a matter of reaching the nuts and there is room, you may be able to attach a pipe to your wrench to get more reach. It's really difficult to say since we can't see it first hand.

Re: Anchor roller

I had the same problem and taped a box wrench to a piece of wood. And it may not be "docking by feel", there is a lot of stress and jerking motion placed on the roller when the anchor has been deployed in less than calm conditions.
