Re: anchor windless?

Hello i was thinking of using a elctric winch for my windless i have a storage compartment in ow that it will fit i think it should work just fine with having to spend a lot of money they have over a 100 ft of cable free fall and work great in other applications why wouldn't it work in this one i would use a roller system so the cable dosn't wear anything but on paper it should work great if you have any other in put please let me know !! thanks

Re: anchor windless? Glastron Gs 249

Hey rwcat78 and chesbayboater,

Did either of you ever work out the best windlass for the Glastron Gs 249? I want to install one of mine also, but conscious of the smallish anchor locker - have to be sure I get the right one. Otherwise I'll be limited with the length of anchor rode I can have, which may make the whole exercise a waste of time..
For info of anyone who may be interested - I contacted Glastron asking what was the original windlass offered as an option for my '99 model GS 249. They didnt have the records anymore for my model. However they said the earliest record they have is that the 2002 came out with an option of a Maxwell Freedom windlass. They couldnt tell me if the '99 anchor locker was the same size as the '02 model - so not sure if it will fit just as well as intended on the 2002. The Maxwell Freedom isnt made anymore however. Maxwell replaced it with their RC series. I think RC6 is the most similar, but I'm not sure if it's the same dimensions and set up as the Freedom was. Would love to hear from anyone who has any knowledge on the subject.

Thanks!

Yes - thanks so much for that info, and being a timekeeper - it is a year old isn't it.

But that comment doesnt really help me with my enquiry does it ... I'd rather hear from someone who can help me thanks.
