angle of motor can run (carb)

at what is the extreme angle can an outboard stilll run ? cause i have my motot laying on a table with the prop "up" like its tilted except a more extreme angle...should i try to start the motor like this...its a 200hp merc. thanks<br />carbs are at the bottom and fuel will have to go up into the engine.

Howdy, Bigkash.<br /><br />Nope. Wont work. <br /><br />The carb bowls must be at an angle that places the "intake" for the jets under the fuel level, and allows the float needle to meter fuel into the bowl. Neither can happen with the carb throats vertical. It probably wouldn't work with the throats more than 20 degrees off of horizontal.<br /><br />Even if the carbs would work in that posture, the engine would overheat and sieze in about 30 seconds without pumped cooling water.<br /><br />Sorry, but good luck anyway. :)

BIGKASH,<br /><br />You do not want to start a 200 hp. outboard unless it is clamped to something very solid.
