So these little things are expensive. I found a whole set on ebay for my drive for 40 bucks. The thing is it says they are aluminum instead of zinc, is aluminum too hard? I thought the drive was aluminum if so that would defeat what the annodes do.

Re: Annode question

Corvette, if you use the boat exclusively in freshwater, you should get "Freshwater Only" anodes. They are made of Magnesium, and will be about $75 a set!

You are correct in your thinking about aluminum anodes on an aluminum drive seeming silly. But remember, the drive is protected by the paint. The unpainted anodes will corrode first.

Re: Annode question

The anodes are an aluminum alloy which is less noble than the aluminum of the sterndrive. Has nothing to do with if the sterndrive is painted and the anodes aren't.
