On my boat there are two old electric anode's that the previous owner disconnected (read cut the wires)

I am taking my boat into saltwater for a few months and need to know how to reconnect them?

It is a 1977 Winner Express with 5.7L mercruiser and Alfa drive.

How effective are they over the normal zinc's attached to the lower unit and what are the down sides to their use.

Thanks

Re: Anode's

From what I have heard, Mercury used to have a device out there that would equalize the electrical charge. It had a name...something like "Mercanode"...but I'm not really sure. I'm sure someone will have a better answer.
