Anodes

I have been told it is advantageous to have anodes installed on a boat that is used in salt water, but is it necessary to do so in fresh? What about a boat that is used regularly in both? And where should they be mounted please?<br /><br />The boat, by the way is a Savage Envoy 4.3m fibreglass runabout. Evinrude 2str 1978 70hp. Rear stainless ladder, Smart Tabs, Yamaha 2.5hp 4str trolling motor.<br /><br />Many thanks.
