I have a 1986 30 ft Sea Ray with twin 350 alphas. For years I have been using a longer step anoide to clear my 4 blade props. Recently I was told we didn't need the longer anoides, only reason we had the longer anoide was for non power steering boats. I installed the flat kind used on bravo drives. Can I use this anoide and what is the use of the offset verson used on alphas? Thanks for any help

Re: Anoide ????

The offset is to clear the larger prop and for trimming the steering and reducing the pull to one side. If you have power steering you can use the flat one with no fin.

Also, having a twin engine, one of your alphas should be a counter rotation, which offsets the prop torque cr2k mentioned.

Offset: water coming off the prop isn't perfectly straight, so the offset... well, offsets the effect of the non-straight water. Little rudder it is.
