Another 270 question

On the dipstick at the bottom there is a flat section(about an inch).Should I fill until the level goes past that or what? 2nd.Question--- The Orings on the drain and dipstick seem to be as good as new.Can I still use them without worry?I keep the boat in the water all summer.THANKS

The dipstick actually has around 2" of flat surface. I try to keep the oil in the upper half inch of the flat. You also check the oil without screwing the dipstick in.<br /><br /><br />

You can reuse the orings, but without worry? I doubt it. Are they that expensive compared to the price of a new drive because you got water in the drive?

Hear Ya loud and clear.I think I'll get some new Orings. The dipstick info is greatly appreciated.The only problem I have is the book say's outdrive takes 2.8 quarts.When I put that much in it overfilled from where you say it should be by over an inch.This year I filled it the way you had showed using the fill hole.It is much cleaner.thanks
