Hi guys ,I have an 87 bayliner f&s 18 ft with a 125 hp motor and in the process of purchasing new batteries .For the starter there 's two batteries but not sure which one to get, #1 is a 27 dc with 675 cca #2 is a 24 m with 800 cca .I have lots of room ,it's just a matter of putting it in .What one would be more beneficial to have? .Will the bigger battery require less charging ? .For my deep cycle do I need to pair it with the same size ? or does it really matter ? Can someone shed some light on this for me , Thanks

Re: another battery question

I do have a 88-125HP and I now used the 675CCA Deep Cycle. Personally, I would like to switch it over to 800 CCA deep cycle. The reason being, the engine only has an 84 watt charging capacity at WOT speed. Even a simple stereo on FM radio and a fish finder still requires me to charge the battery every three days! Of course, in your case you have two batteries, so it'll take you longer between charges.

yea I use one just for starting and the other for my stereo fish finder and trolling motor .I'm still not sure though I want to go with the smaller battery for the cca but I think the bigger size battery may have a better recovery if I need multipule starts

Re: another battery question

If price is not an issue, I'm with you with the larger battery.

Re: another battery question

I always get the biggest batteries I can afford. I think they should be the same size. I like the dual purpose deep/starting type. My batteries are going on 6 years and still seem to be working fine. I also use an onboard charger/maintainer.

Re: another battery question

Last month I just bought exactly the same type starting/dc 800CCA for less than $90! You can't go wrong with this type. Although, I used this battery for the truck instead of the boat. Next one for the boat will be the same type and size.
