Acouple of weekends ago,I was putting on at a local ramp,I saw a couple gentlemen working on thier trolling motor.
They were tied up to 1 of the docks.
I walked over to offer assistance, after securing my rig to the other dock.
Seems the guy forgot the drain plug.
He was using the trolling motor untill he got the outboard fired up.
At about that time,he noticed the incoming tide, and panicked.
He pointed the boat at the ramp and made for the trailer.
Remember the trolling motor?
The trolling motor hit the trailer, bending the shaft severely, before breaking the mounting bracket.
I shook my head and asked him if he had a bilge pump.
He mumbled that he had a "drain plug",and stared vacantly into the distance....
This why the absolute FIRST thing I do is to put in the drain plug, and, check it at least 3 more times before launching.
