another dumb question lol transducer help

Is this a good spot for it? when i was out in the water it was reading 4 foot.I dont think it was 4 foot but just a guess.image (1).jpg

Stop, get out of the boat and measure it. Remember, its 4' from the transducer, not water 4' deep.

The spot is probably OK, but may be too close to the chine. I would have put it in further.

Hard to tell from that photo exactly how it's mounted, but that general vicinity is a normal location for transducers. And you didn't mention if you were underway when you were getting the questionable reading or not, sometimes while underway transducers will get air trapped around them and give you goofy readings. Other than that, as mentioned, you have to remember that the distance you see is from the transducer to the bottom.

I would mount it next to your speedo pitot. Think where it is is not a good location, fill holes with epoxy or 5200. Also, if you drill a hole and mount a thru hull fitting below the rubrail and run all your wires/tube thru it it will make a nice clean installation and you won't have stuff coming over the stern like it is. If interested, I did this and it is in my refurb thread.
