I got a new lower unit put on my motor as the old one was F-U-*-K-E-D. Anyway the guy put on a used one which turns out was very noisy so he got another unit from a 115hp 6 cylinder and he put it on my motor.. Basically nearly brand new lower unit (can't even hear it being put into gear) but he said the ratio is very different so he put on a different brass prop (for free basiclaly brand new to) that he said was a smaller pitch and it would compensate for the lower unit and charged me about $230 US for everything (parts labour etc.)

I haven't got time to test the boat on the water yet but i did get a chance to start the motor on my driveway to chekc if i rewired the tacho properlybecause i upgraded to a newer quicksilver remote control .. (you might remember my previous posts). Anyway i noticed this grey/green sludge on my drive which was very milky dribbling out from around the prop and down the skeg and i went and jabbed the sludge and it was greeny colour when i swirled it around so im figuring it was unburned 2 stroke oil...

Anyway i don't think its the same oil thats in the lower unit but it could be but i think its just sludge from the exaust..

Later I undid the screw on the bottom of my leg to drain like 30ml of oil to see what colour it is... It was a browny greeny colour and it wasn't see through it was milky like apaste but it was quite different from the stuff leaking out from around my prop but im starting to believe that maybe this lower unit is fawked to as it must have water inside to make it that colour...

What should i do?

Go buy a few bottles of LU Oil and drain old oil and put in some new and go out for a ride then come back and check it or just take it back to the mechanic

I have a 3 month warranty on the stuff

Nice mechanic to so he will be pissed but he will change the unit probably but mayeb the oil is ok.

Also is it alright to put a 115hp LU on a 65hp and change the pitch to compensate or should tihs practice be avoided
